About us
Island roofers, not island visitors
We live and work in the San Juan Islands. San Juan, Orcas, Lopez & Shaw Islands — plus the outer islands of San Juan County.
San Juan Roofing Co. was built on one simple idea: island roofs deserve island roofers. The mainland companies that ferry over don’t live with our salt air, our 40 inches of rain, or the west-side wind. You can see it in the roofs they leave behind. You can see it in the quotes that jump mid-job when they “find” the ferry costs.
We’re different because we’re here. We know which coastal-rated metal holds up near the water. We know why the north slope under the firs grows moss. And we know how to plan a re-roof around ferry reservations so it finishes on time. We give you honest repair-or-replace advice, because on a small island, your reputation is the whole business.
From Friday Harbor to Waldron, from a single leak to a full standing-seam roof, we do it right the first time — and we put the warranty in writing.

(360) 205-1462Credentials & expertise
Licensed, bonded & insured (WA)
A licensed Washington roofing contractor, fully bonded and insured. We know San Juan County code and pull the permits your job needs.
Island-based, not island-visiting
We live and work in the San Juan Islands. Ferry schedules, salt air, and west-side wind aren’t surprises to us — they’re just another Tuesday.
Coastal-rated systems
Certified installers of marine-grade metal and full manufacturer shingle systems built for saltwater and heavy rain.
15-year workmanship warranty
Every re-roof comes with our 15-year workmanship warranty — backed by Evergreen Summit Roofing (ESR) — on top of the manufacturer’s material warranty. The terms are in writing with your estimate.
10+ years on these roofs
More than ten years of San Juan County roofs means we’ve seen how each material really ages here — and we pick materials to match.
Rainwater-catchment aware
Many island homes collect rainwater. We build roofs that keep that water clean and your system working.
Manufacturer certified
Certified installer of trusted roofing brands
We install full manufacturer systems and register the extended warranties — so your roof qualifies for the strongest available material and workmanship coverage.
IKO certified installer
IKO ROOFPRO Select contractor. We register IKO’s extended Iron Clad Protection so qualifying shingles get longer coverage (e.g. Cambridge 10→15 years; Dynasty, Nordic & designer lines 15→20 years).
Owens Corning certified installer
Owens Corning Preferred Contractor. We can offer the System Protection warranty on Duration, Oakridge, Woodcrest & Woodmoor systems, including up to 50 years of non-prorated TRU PROtection coverage.
CertainTeed certified installer
CertainTeed installer, including Presidential TL. It’s a thick asphalt shingle that gives the deep, layered look of cedar shake without the upkeep, cost, or insurance surcharge.
Warranties
Coverage that actually stands behind your roof
Because we’re a certified contractor, we register the manufacturer’s extended warranties — and add our own 15-year workmanship coverage on top. You get the strongest protection available, in writing.
15-Year Workmanship Warranty
Evergreen Summit Roofing (ESR)
Our own 15-year workmanship warranty, in writing on every re-roof.
- Covers our work — the labor and craftsmanship, not just the material
- Backed directly by Evergreen Summit Roofing (ESR), the licensed contractor
- Documented with your estimate, never a verbal promise
IKO ROOFPRO Select — Iron Clad Protection
IKO (registered by ESR)
Longer, contractor-registered coverage on qualifying IKO shingles.
- We register the extended warranty so your coverage is longer than standard
- Cambridge extends from 10 to 15 years; Dynasty, Nordic & designer lines from 15 to 20 years
- During the Iron Clad period, a valid manufacturing-defect claim covers replacement shingles. It also adds a fair allowance for removal, disposal, and reinstallation.
Owens Corning System Protection
Owens Corning Preferred Contractor
Up to 50-year, non-prorated coverage on a full Owens Corning system.
- Qualifying products (Duration, Oakridge, Woodcrest, Woodmoor) can carry up to 50 years of non-prorated TRU PROtection coverage. That is for an owner-occupied, single-family home.
- Covers qualifying shingles + required system components, reasonable replacement labor, and tear-off & disposal for a covered manufacturing defect
- Adds 10 years of Owens Corning-backed workmanship coverage. That covers repair labor, tear-off, disposal, and certain flashing work on an approved claim.
Manufacturer warranties require qualifying products and proper registration; coverage, terms, and exclusions are set by the manufacturer. Exact terms for your roof are provided in writing with your estimate.
How we work
- 1
Call & free inspection
Call (360) 205-1462. We schedule a free on-island inspection — including the outer islands — and take a real look at your roof, flashing, and deck.
- 2
Honest assessment & written estimate
We show you photos of what we found, explain repair-vs-replace in plain language, and give you a written estimate with clear material options — no pressure.
- 3
Logistics & scheduling
We lock ferry reservations, stage materials by the load, and put you on the calendar. For outer islands we plan one efficient trip.
- 4
Installation, done right
Our crew tears off, repairs the deck, and installs your system to manufacturer spec with proper flashing, underlayment, and ventilation.
- 5
Cleanup & walkthrough
We haul the old roof off-island, magnet-sweep for nails, and walk the finished job with you. Then your workmanship warranty is in writing.
Our promises
Free inspections & estimates
On-island roof inspections and written estimates are always free. You never pay to find out what your roof needs.

We recommend a repair when a repair is right — even when a replacement would earn us more. On a small island, an honest reputation is the whole business.
Written scope & pricing
Every estimate spells out the material, scope, and price in writing, including the island travel. No surprise change orders mid-job.
Insurance-claim support
We take photos of storm and wind damage, write adjuster-ready reports, and can work straight with your insurer.
Clean, respectful jobsites
We protect landscaping, magnet-sweep for nails, and haul debris off-island. We leave your property the way we’d want ours left.
15-year workmanship warranty
A 15-year workmanship warranty backed by Evergreen Summit Roofing (ESR), plus the manufacturer’s material warranty on every re-roof — documented in writing, not verbal.
